Today, Amazon Lookout for Metrics is generally available to all AWS customers. Lookout for Metrics is a machine learning (ML) service that detects anomalies or unexpected changes in your metrics and helps you proactively monitor the health of your business, diagnose problems, and find opportunities quickly - with no ML experience.

Businesses of virtually all sizes use data to monitor trends and changes in their metrics and find unexpected anomalies, such as: For example, unexpected collapses in sales, high cart abandonment rates, spikes in failed payment transactions, an increase in new user registrations and much more. Finding these anomalies is a challenge. Traditional rule-based methods look for data that is out of range. This leads to a lot of false positives if the area is too narrow or missing anomalies if the area is too wide. These areas are also static and do not change depending on the time of day, day of the week, or time of year. They often need to be updated manually. When anomalies are discovered, developers, analysts, and business owners can spend weeks identifying the cause of the change before taking meaningful action.

Lookout for Metrics detects anomalies in metrics and helps customers quickly identify the cause. It uses the same technology that Amazon uses internally to detect anomalies in its metrics. Lookout for Metrics automatically connects to 19 data sources, including popular AWS services like S3, CloudWatch, Redshift, and RDS, and SaaS applications like Salesforce, Marketo, and Amplitude, to continuously monitor the metrics that matter to customers. It detects anomalies with high accuracy using ML, resulting in fewer false positives and fewer cases of missed anomalies. Lookout for Metrics groups related anomalies to help you identify the root cause and ranks them in order of severity so you can focus on what matters most. It sends you alarms via channels such as SNS, Datadog, PagerDuty, Webhooks and Slack or triggers custom actions via Lambda, which shortens the time to resolution. It also uses your feedback on detected anomalies to optimize results and continuously improve accuracy.

Lookout for Metrics is available directly from the AWS console, the AWS SDKs, and the AWS CLI. The service is also compatible with AWS CloudFormation and can be used in accordance with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) of the European Union. AWS Client VPN is now available in the following AWS Regions: US East (Northern Virginia), US East (Ohio), US West (Oregon), EU (Ireland), EU (Frankfurt), EU (London), Asia- Pacific (Sydney), Asia-Pacific (Singapore), Asia-Pacific (Mumbai), and Asia-Pacific (Tokyo).
