Childhood and adolescence:
Post Malone was born Austin Richard Post on July 4, 1995 in Syracuse, New York. He was confronted with music at a young age. His father was a DJ. This is how Post Malone came into contact with the music genres hip-hop and rock. Since he was nine, Post Malone grew up in Grapevine, Texas because his father moved there. His youth was driven by his interest in music. He learned to play the guitar, took part in talent competitions and auditions and was a member of a metal band. Like his father, he was also interested in working as a DJ for a while. During his time at Grapevine High School he created a mixtape himself entitled "Young and After Them Riches", which he distributed among his classmates. He left Texas immediately after high school and moved to Los Angeles, California. There he lived with other musicians.

Music career:
After music had been a big part of him all his life, his real music career began after he released the single "White Iverson" on a private Soundcloud profile. The title alludes to the Afro-American basketball player Allen Iverson. That's why a lot of people think that his stage name has something to do with basketball player Karl Malone. In fact, Malone is chosen at random. "White Iverson" got one million clicks in one month. As a result, the first music labels became aware of the thoroughbred artist. In August 2015 he signed a multi-year record deal with Republic Records. He also made friends with the stars Kanye West and Justin Bieber, which earned him features on their albums and some high-profile appearances.

In 2016 Post Malone released his debut studio album "Stoney". Carried by the successful single "Congratulations", the album was able to establish itself up to number 4 on the US Billboard 200, the American album charts. In addition, "Stoney" made it into the top 100 national charts in several countries. The album has now enjoyed triple platinum status in the United States. It made him known globally. In 2017 Post Malone had an even bigger success with his second album "Beerbongs & Bentleys". The first single "Rockstar" stormed to the top of the American single charts. The album itself made it to number 1 on the US Billboard 200 within the first week of its release. It sold so quickly that it had reached platinum status after four days. In addition, it broke the Spotify record for most streams. At the beginning of September 2019 his new studio album "Hollywood's Bleeding" was released. Three of the four singles released from it so far landed in the top 5 of the singles charts in the USA. The single "Sunflower" even made it to number 1.

The single "Rockstar" won the song of the year award at the MTV Video Music Awards in 2018. It was also recognized as a Top Rap Song at the Billboard Music Awards. Both the single and the album "Beerbongs & Bentleys" were also nominated for Grammys.

Private life:
Post Malone was with Ashlen Diaz from 2015 to 2018. The couple has now separated. He still lives in Los Angeles, California today. But his success also enabled him to buy a large lot in Utah.

Unique style of music:
Post Malone cannot be pigeonholed in any particular genre of music. He developed a unique style because of his diverse interests, ranging from classic rock musicians like Bob Dylan to die-hard gangster rappers like 50 Cent. He fluently combines singing and rap. His pieces are often underlaid with a mix of these different styles of music. Often the beats also contain electrical influences. Post Malone himself considers such classifications to be unnecessary. He regards himself as genre-technically unbound.

Criticism of appearing as a rapper:
Post Malone is often accused by the media and other rappers of appropriating African American culture and using it illegally as a white rapper. His outfits, hairstyles and language are very similar to the looks of African American rappers. Regardless, there is a small but very harsh group of private people who even wished Post Malone dead on certain occasions. When his plane had to make an emergency landing on a flight from New Jersey, he was angry at people who asked him to crash on Twitter.

Political attitude:
Post Malone is particularly fond of his tattoos. He has several of them on his body and some on his face. He expresses his individuality to a certain extent. Some of his tattoos are also indicative of his political views. Former US President John F. Kennedy is emblazoned on his arm. Another tattoo, a snake winding around a weapon, is intended to express its support for the American fundamental right to own weapons and to defend oneself with them in an emergency.
